Covrixa PDF Encryption Tool is a free web tool that lets you add strong AES-256 password protection to your PDF files or remove existing passwords. It is ideal for protecting sensitive PDFs such as contracts, financial records, personal documents, and confidential reports.
The tool works entirely in your browser using the pdf-lib library. Your PDF file is never sent to any server — all encryption and decryption happens on your device. AES-256 encryption uses the PDF 2.0 standard. Two types of passwords are supported: user password (to open the file) and owner password (to manage permissions).

What is AES-256?
AES-256 is an advanced encryption standard with 256-bit key length, approved by the U.S. government. It is extremely resistant to brute-force attacks.
Two password types explained
The user password opens the PDF. The owner password controls printing/editing permissions. You can set both for layered protection.
Can large files be encrypted?
Yes, but large files (50MB+) may process slower depending on your device's performance. Files under 100MB are recommended.
