Frequently Asked Questions

What is PDF metadata?
PDF metadata is descriptive data that contains information about the PDF file itself. It includes title, author, subject, keywords, creation date and more. This data can be viewed in search engines and file managers before opening the file.
Are my files sent to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your PDF file and all its data stay on your device — nothing is sent to or stored on any server. All operations are performed locally using the PDF-Lib library.
Does editing metadata change file quality?
No. Only the metadata fields are updated. The PDF content, pages, images, fonts, and all other elements remain unchanged. File structure and quality are not affected.
Which metadata fields can be edited?
Title, Author, Subject and Keywords fields can be edited. Creator and Producer fields are read-only because they are automatically assigned by the software that created the PDF and indicate the document origin.
Which browsers are supported?
All modern browsers are supported: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge and Opera. Internet Explorer (IE11) is not supported.
