How KPSS Scores Are Calculated?

KPSS scoring involves multiple steps. First, your net score for each test section is calculated using the formula: Net = Correct - (Wrong / 4). This means every 4 wrong answers cancel out 1 correct answer.

After calculating net scores, each test's raw score is transformed into a standard score (ASP - Agirlikli Standart Puan) using a statistical distribution. The standard score formula is approximately: ASP = 50 + 10 x (net - average) / standard deviation.

Finally, different score types (P3, P10, P121) are calculated by taking weighted averages of these standard scores with different weights for each test section. This calculator uses simplified formulas that provide approximate estimates.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is KPSS?
KPSS (Kamu Personeli Secme Sinavi) is the public personnel selection exam administered by OSYM in Turkey. It must be taken by anyone who wants to work as a civil servant in Turkish public institutions. The exam is organized every two years and includes General Ability, General Culture, and optionally Education Sciences sections for those seeking teaching positions. The exam scores remain valid for two years.

KPSS has different levels: high school (ortaogretim), associate degree (onlisans), and bachelor's degree (lisans). Each level has a different test format. This calculator is designed for the bachelor's degree (lisans) level.

The exam consists of multiple-choice questions, and wrong answers reduce your score through a penalty system where 4 wrong answers cancel 1 correct answer.
What are P3, P10 and P121 scores?
P3: This is the most common KPSS score type. It is calculated using only the General Ability (Genel Yetenek) and General Culture (Genel Kultur) tests. Most public institutions use the P3 score when recruiting bachelor's degree graduates for general administrative positions.

P10: This score type includes the Education Sciences (Egitim Bilimleri) test in addition to General Ability and General Culture. It is primarily used for teaching positions in public schools.

P121: This is the most comprehensive score type. It includes General Ability, General Culture, Education Sciences, and the subject-area exam (OABT - Ogretmenlik Alan Bilgisi Testi). It is used for subject-specific teaching positions. Since OABT varies by subject, this calculator provides an approximate estimate.
How is the net score calculated?
In KPSS, the net score is calculated with a penalty for wrong answers. The formula is: Net = Number of Correct Answers - (Number of Wrong Answers / 4).

For example, if you get 45 correct and 12 wrong in a 60-question test: Net = 45 - (12/4) = 45 - 3 = 42.00. This means 12 wrong answers cost you 3 correct answers, so your net score is 42 out of 60.

The purpose of this penalty system is to discourage random guessing. If you are not sure about an answer, it is often better to leave it blank than to guess randomly.
Does this calculator store my data?
No. All calculation inputs are processed directly in your browser and are not stored on Covrixa servers. Your exam results, correct/wrong counts, and score estimates remain private on your device and are never shared with third parties.

Google Analytics may be used to measure site performance and understand which tools are popular. Google Analytics collects anonymous statistics such as page views but does not record your calculation inputs.

If you have concerns about data privacy, you can use your browser's private mode at any time or reset your cookie settings.
Are these scores the same as official OSYM results?
No, these are approximate estimates only. The actual OSYM scoring process involves complex statistical calculations including standard deviation, average scores of all test takers, and different weighting factors that vary from year to year.

This calculator uses simplified formulas to give you a rough idea of where your score might fall. The actual P3, P10, and P121 scores calculated by OSYM may be different.

Use this tool as a general reference for your preparation. For official results, always refer to OSYM's official KPSS score report.
